As fall sports reach their peak, the excitement for playoffs is notable. Teams are gearing up for the final push, with field hockey, football, and girls' soccer all competing for a spot in districts. The anticipation is building as October marks the crucial period for these athletes. Representing Bloomsburg themselves without a team are Ryan Scherer and Mya Coyne with Golf and Tennis.

Ryan Scherer, a standout golfer, already made waves with his performance on October 3rd. Ryan's high school golf career ended at Williamsport Country Club. He finished T-17 in districts. Even though he didn’t win in districts he is one of three golfers to qualify for individual districts from Bloomsburg since 2015. When interviewing Ryan he had a lot to say about districts, “When I qualified for districts, it was an incredible moment. Hitting that 6-footer against Mifflinburg and then getting to fist bump Logan Traugh was unforgettable. It felt like all the hard work and dedication throughout the season had paid off ”. Ryan expressed that “going to districts was a great experience and an honor”. He went on to comment “especially knowing that I was only the fourth person in BHS history to qualify individually”. It was a mix of excitement, pride, and a bit of relief knowing that for him knowing that he had reached such a significant milestone.

As well as Ryan Scherer being an individual district player there is Mya Coyne who qualified as the No.4 seed for the October 12th District IV Singles Tournament. She proceeded to win her 1st match vs Taylor (Central Columbia #2) and moved on to play her 2nd match of the tournament. Which was against a South Williamsport player. Mya ended up winning, making her advance to the District 4 semifinals on October 14th. This is where Mya tied for 3rd in the District 4 AA singles championships. Even though her individual tennis season came to end with such a short loss of 1st, Mya is now playing doubles with her teammate Siena Fritsky. Mya and Siena earned the 4th seed in the District 4AA doubles championships. As for her other tennis mates Erika Trautman and Ella Derr they play Montgomery #2 in the first round. Both sets up doubles sadly did not end up placing.

The football team, under the leadership of Coach Kogut, has shown remarkable improvement this season. With a strong defense and a dynamic offense, they are assured to make a deep run in the playoffs. The team has added some offensive dominant players this season. Jharee Stewart, a freshman prospect has been an essential part to the team. With his eye of scoring him and Wyatt Brosious have made quit the offensive duo this year. Most recently with Jharee making a 80 yard run for a touchdown pass thrown from Wyatt. He has successfully made 18 total touchdowns so far with another game coming up for districts. One to add to the duo would be Jack Katulis. Jack has 703 receiving yards making him 297 yards shy of 1,000. He has helped the Panthers significantly this season along with Jharre when trying to get the ball into the endzone.

When talking about the Panthers football team it’s vital to discuss Wyatt Brosious. As a sophomore he threw for 1,795 yards. This year Wyatt has thrown for 2,069 yards and counting making him be named the 4th person to the Bloomsburg record of “2,000 yards passing”. Wyatt is only a junior yet has accomplished more than many upperclassmen have in their whole high school career. With such great leadership skills Wyatt was named Captain his sophomore and junior year. He is not someone who is only focused on himself but mainly his teammates first. When asked, “Who are some standout players or leaders on the team, and how have they contributed to your success?”. Wyatt responded saying, “Ryan Shuman has several important tackles for the team, Tommy Klingerman contains great vocal leadership, Logan Traugh protects me in the games by blocking, Jack Katulis catches several of my throws, Jharee gets points on the scoreboard, and Dominick Rosini makes big plays when needed.”

The field hockey team, known for their relentless spirit and tactical ability, is also eyeing a district title. Their teamwork and determination have been evident in every match, making them a formidable contender. They are seeded second in the 1A Field Hockey Quarterfinals with an overall season record of 15-4-1. As their first playoff game for districts their opponent is Benton who is ranked 7th. After beating Benton it advanced them on into the District Semifinals against Midd West where the game was sent into overtime. Bloomsburg field hockey fell to Midd-West 0-1. But, this didn’t end their season because they have a chance to go for 3rd place on October 31st against Selinsgrove. Which also clinches them a spot in State Playoffs as well.

Girls' soccer has been a standout, with several players excelling this season for instance Teagan Serrano being one scoring her 50th goal in their last regular season game. Their journey to the districts has been marked by thrilling victories and hard-fought battles. The team's resilience and skill have made them hold a record of 14-3. Soccer is ranked 5th for playoffs making them play the No. 4 Warrior Run as their first game. Sadly soccer fell to the No. 4 ranked team making their season come to an end.

These sports teams highlight the dedication and hard work these athletes have put in all season. Each practice, each game, and each moment of perseverance has led them to this point. The sense of pride is visible as these athletes strive to bring glory to Bloomsburg High School. The camaraderie among teammates and the support from friends and family fuel their drive to succeed. As the fall sports season progresses, the dreams of district glory are within reach for these dedicated athletes. Their stories of triumph and challenge not only highlight their individual talents but also the spirit of Bloomsburg High School. The entire community rallies behind them, cheering them on as they chase their district dreams. Making it to districts is a significant achievement, and for many, it's the gateway to the esteemed state championships.
