Getting to Know Gage

Ever since middle school, I have been writing short stories during my free time. I admit that most of these short stories have been bad, but recently my short stories have improved. These improvements stem from McGarry and Callahan’s classes. Writing became one of the most important parts of my life. I am currently attempting to write a novel right now, and most of the time I am daydreaming about possible plot points. Engaging my imagination and searching for symbols to create in this book helps me syphon my creativity. My stories are far from the best, but one day I want to publish something that I can be proud of.

Due to my joy of writing, my friend, William Clickard, suggested that I joined the journalism class. I had only joined the class to humor Will, but it was a great decision. Writing articles and meeting people that I interviewed became very interesting. Most people I interviewed that were in administration, teachers, or even apart of the school’s kitchen seemed passionate about their jobs. It was a more interesting outlook to Bloomsburg High School. I’d never see these teachers in this light if I had not joined journalism.

Now I am the Media Manager and am in charge of everything outside the paper. Working with some of my best friends has improved my desire to work harder. I designed most of the website, and I have edited our podcasts. The website will be hosting more podcasts throughout the year, and I will do my best to keep the topics interesting and “cut the crap.”

At this point in my life I have begun unironically calling myself a gamer and saying “epic.” It brings me great shame. Oh well.
